Due to earthquake damage, the gallery will sadly remain closed for the immediate future. In support of the staff and Christchurch arts community we have decided to open the exhibition online.

Earthquake Update from the Arthouse, 23rd February 2011

As you will all be aware Christchurch was hit by a massive 6.3 earthquake yesterday. The Arthouse, located in the centre of the city did not escape damage, however Norma Peter & Erika are all well.
We are not allowed into the CBD until the central Christchurch area is safe and our building has been cleared by structural engineers. For this reason we do not know when we will reopen however we will keep you informed.
Norma & Peter are working from their home office. For any assistance contact us either on email art@thearthouse.co.nz or phone 027 480 1726
Our thoughts go out to any of you who have been affected by this disaster and we thank those of you who have already contacted us.

Kindest regards, Norma, Peter & Erika

The Trojan Hammers  are a sometimes serious, sometimes humorous look at technology and it’s implications. While ‘200%’ comments on our (comical) obsession with productivity, 'Malleus' questions our technological advancement. 'Shroud' is partially covered as if a weapon but with the erotic flowing folds of a Bernini marble.

Robert Hague was born in New Zealand and migrated to Australia in the mid-1980's. He has been a practicing artist for more than two decades. In 1999 he was awarded the 'Director's Prize' at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi. His work is part of corporate and private collections in Australia, China, New Zealand, France, Spain, Bahrain, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States. In late 2010, his work 'Trojan Hammer (200%) won the prestigious Deakin University Small Sculpture Award.
